One of the most important requirements of those who want to go to a Florida Rehab center is the desire to end the dependency – whether it is drugs or alcohol. There are a variety of programs offered at the centers including in-patient, outpatient, addiction counseling, and medical care. With more than 500 rehabilitation programs in the state, there are many choices available. However, some only offer programs for specific genders or ages.
Basic Requirements
The Florida Rehab Center that is chosen will require a questionnaire to be filled out prior to acceptance of the individual. It will contain questions such as whether the person has any medical problems, is taking medication currently, has been arrested or if crimes are being committed as a result of or in order to support the addiction. A history concerning the alcohol or drug use will also be taken. This will include the age the addiction began, what specifically is being abused (type of drugs) or alcohol, and what treatments have been sought in the past and if they were successful.
Other basic requirements will depend on the type of rehabilitation program chosen. If an in-patient program is chosen, some require the patient to stay at the center for the entire program. Visitors are not allowed. Others allow patients more freedom. The programs can last from 30 days to a year. When staying at a center, patients must bring any medications being taken in the original prescription bottle and clothing. Certain items may not be allowed. Check with the center that is chosen to see what is prohibited.
Another requirement that will be discussed prior to patients entering rehabilitation centers is the payment. This often includes more than the therapy and other treatment charges. The cost of food, the room and other expenses must be paid as well. This can be paid by the individual or their family and some insurance companies reimburse patients for these costs.
Other Requirements
In addition to the desire to overcome the addiction patients must be willing to participate in their recovery. In many residential rehab centers this will include:
Group therapy
Working with a personal therapist
Follow an individualized plan for treatment
Participation in programs to prevent relapse such as the 12-step program
Physical health assessments
Attend educational lectures about addiction
Follow nutritional guidelines and exercise programs
The decision to enter a rehab program can change your life. It is not easy and does require following the steps outlined by the program that is chosen. Often the best way to do so is to enter a residential rehab center to allow you to concentrate on getting better without distractions.
